Do you enjoy thinking outside of the box and working on creative projects? Then Art & Design is for you!

In Art & Design you will have the opportunity to work within an individualised program, catering to your interests and skill development in both Art and Design, or one of these learning areas. Learn new skills in 2-D and 3-D media and digital technologies, including photography, animation, digital design and illustration. Be inspired by the techniques used by artists and designers, both past and present. Learn skills in creative thinking and problem solving. Use the design process and your imagination to create and explore different themes and subjects within your area/s of interest.

This subject can be selected for 1 or 2 semesters. If students wish to complete studies over the 2 semesters, then a more rigorous and in-depth program will be created on an individual basis, to help students prepare folios and skills in preparation for VCE.

Successful completion of this subject is indicated by the completion of the following class work:

• Folio of completed artworks/ design presentations
• Up to date and neatly presented Visual Diary that contains all notes, drawings of trial designs, techniques and visual references
• Written work and homework, including research assignments and analysis

You are expected to supply basic equipment as per the book list.

This unit is designed to prepare students for VCE Art and VCE Visual Communication Design.
